Wash Day!

We went to the dog park this morning! It was hot and dusty there, but it was still fun to play with the other dogs. Well, I don't really play, I sort of watch them play. We didn't stay too long since it was pretty warm. The stop on the way home was at Muddy Paw Wash - yes, you guessed it - bath time! I like being clean - I really do. I just don't like getting wet! When I figure out how to be clean and not get wet and soapy I'll be a very happy dog. Still, the people at MPW are really nice and they LOVE me! I'm such a good dog, and they like that. My fur is like a Persian carpet - really thick. It's hard to get it washed and even harder to get it dried. I HATE the blow dryer. How do people stand those things? The noise hurts my ears. Today was all worth it though because afterwards we got new toys!!!! Yes, two, count them two, new tennis balls. And best of all - they SQUEAK! Well, they did for a while. I chewed on them until I killed the squeaker. They still bounce really well though. Now, if I could figure out how to keep them from rolling underneath the furniture . . .

Water, water, water

Don't you just love playing in the water that spurts out from the hose? That's probably one of the best things to do on a hot day like today. I don't like baths, but I LOVE to chase the spray from the hose and bite at it. I think everyone should go out and chase the water spray and have FUN! Don't be so serious all of the time. Think like a kid, or better yet, like a dog, and just have some fun. Hey, I need to go do that now. Forget nap time. I want to go play and get wet. See ya!

News about the BOOK!

My writer, that's Sally, and my illustrator, that's Bobby, had a working meeting yesterday and it was pretty exciting. I'm always there at these meetings since I'm the main topic of conversation. There are more sketches of me coming soon! Watch for them on my website: www.buddythedogbook.com They talked a lot about the artwork for the book and how to draw me with just the right expressions on all of the pages to help tell the story. I have LOTS of expressions! I'm just an expressive kind of guy. I also heard them talking about an animated cartoon! Wow, bow wow! That sounds like so much fun! I can be very animated! Bobby could show me eating, or chasing my tennis ball, or EATING! YES! An entire cartoon about eating. Oh yes, that's what I want. Let's eat!

Bear's House!

I haven't been to Bear's house in a few weeks. Sigh! I really miss Gummy's yummies, and Kathy's lovin'!!!!! Kathy's funny - she makes me laugh! She also makes her bird laugh - except when he's screeching. I would like to eat the bird - especially when he's screeching! Then he could screech in my tummy with Gummy's yummies! Bear's house is a fun place to visit. There is always something happening there and lots of fun animals to get to know. Kathy is helping with my book! She takes photographs and she comes up with really cool ideas for more books. She wants me to have the screeching bird in one of my books . . . well, maybe, if he promises not to screech!

FLEAS and scratching!

I must be getting old - I had to go to the vet because I was having back problems. The kind doctor poked and prodded me (thanks a lot doc), and then told my human that I had most likely strained my back while scratching! It's all the FLEAS fault! So, I've been taking a pain medication. It must be working pretty well because I can run up the steps with no problems at all. My human says she wants the same drugs I'm taking! She has trouble running up steps. I'm not sure if she strained her back scratching at fleas. Excuse me while I go scratch a flea bite . . .

My book! I have a book!

Yes, I have a book! It's all pretty exciting. It isn't printed yet, whatever that means. Anyway, when it's done, it will tell a story about moving and making new friends. There's a surprise in there too, but you have to read the book to find out the surprise. Tell all of your doggy friends about it, and all of your kid friends too because it's a picture book for kids. I can't tell you anymore because we're walking over to the boatyard to talk to someone about fixing up our boat. I'm not sure I even like the boat, so why do we want to fix it up? I like my house - it doesn't rock side to side and front to back! Oh well, it's a dog's life. Gotta go now.

Toys

Toys are great! I love toys! My favorite toys are the toys I can tear apart! Yes, tearing apart toys is a fun thing. Tennis balls are fun - they bounce - and they have this fuzzy covering that you can peel off like an orange. They don't bounce as well after you've peeled them though. But, then it's time for a NEW toy! Oh, going to the pet store to pick out a new toy is so much fun! There are SO MANY toys there! I want them all! Hey, let's go to the pet store - I've torn the stuffing out of all of my stuffed toys, and I've lost all of my tennis balls, and I'm just plain tired of all of the rest of them. Time to go to the pet store! Bye, gotta go get my human to take me to the pet store. I'll post a picture of my new toy when I get it.

Dog days of summer!

The dog days of summer are coming up. That's what they call August. I don't get it - why August? Because it's so hot? It's been hot in July! It's hot in May! Why not the dog days of Spring? And cold, that affects us dogs too! It's cold in the the winter. So, why not the Dogbrrrrrrrr Days of Winter? Huh? Why not? Who decides on these things anyway? Must not be dogs. Gotta go take a nap and ponder this some more.

DOG PARK!

We went to the dog park today! I LOVE the dog park! Well, I love the idea of the dog park. The reality is that there are a bunch of other dogs and they all want to sniff your, well, you know, those areas, and it's embarrassing! Now don't get me wrong, this form of communication and getting to know one another is totally accepted by our dog culture, but I would like a few rules first.
1. Ask before sniffing. It's only polite!
2. Girl dogs first! I'm a gentleman before all else.
3. If you've been swimming and you're wet, or you smell because you rolled in something you shouldn't then don't even ask! The answer is, go find another dog to sniff, please.
I have more to say about the dog park, but it's time for a nap. The dog park always makes me tired and sleepy.
